What Happened When Frank Died: The Child

Frank died.

Frank stood staring up at a face from his childhood, his face; all baby-cheeked and two-front-teeth-less.

“You’re a loser, I hope you die!” The Child cried.

Frank felt a deep hurt deep in his chest. He began to cry. The Child circled around him, his clothes had changed. He was laughing. He attacked with insults and then fists. Frank fell to the ground, helpless. He moaned as he was beaten. The Child grew. As he grew he abused and insulted Frank until all Frank could feel was sadness and pain and guilt. The Child became a teenager and soon after he broke Frank’s heart.

Frank felt himself, lost and in fits of long heaving sobs. Even then it did not stop. The teenager was relentless. Frank begged him to stop but he took no notice. The teenager grew older. He inflicted more pain on Frank.

It went on for days, months, years. As the Teenager grew into a man and that man grew older Frank felt only suffering. Then, there was a pause.

Frank opened his tear stained lids and looked into his own eyes. The Child had grown into the man that had been Frank.

That Man with Frank’s eyes stared down at Frank.

“It was your fault. It was all your fault.” The Man said it slowly, purposefully, then walked away. After he said it Frank felt a guilt that grew into the purest agony.

“No! Come back. Please!”

But, The Man did not.

Frank curled up on the ground and screamed until he choked on the sound. Then a voice, a child’s voice brought him back. He looked up. It was a face from his childhood, his face; all baby-cheeked and two-front-teeth-less.

“You’re a loser, I hope you die!” The Child cried.

  1. This series is interesting and thought provoking. I am enjoying the read and hoping we all don’t land in the same place. I wonder if this were true and people who are contemplating suicide could get a glimpse of this, would they then change the course of their life? Eternity, YIKES!!!!
    Well done. :o)
